After-school Activities (ASAs) at FDIS for middle school and high school students are a great way for students to learn new skills, build existing ones, develop leadership skills and make new friends through a wide range of fun activities. ASAs take many forms at FDIS, including but not limited to the Basketball Club, Ping Pong Club, Soccer Club, Badminton Club, Cross Country Club, Ultimate Frisbee Club, Zumba Club, Hip Hop Club, Science Documentary Club, Puzzle Club, Three Kingdoms Club, Model U.N. (MUN), Student Government Association (SGA), Environmental Club, Music Ensemble Club, Yoga Club, Digital Painting Club, Debate Club, DIY Club, Strike, Film Appreciation Club (FAC), Drama Club, Yearbook Club, Akido Club, Spanish Club, Japanese Club, AP & SAT Physics Club, Math Club - AMC 8, Polymer Clay Club, Chess Club, Arms & Alms Club, Chinese Calligraphy Club, Knitting for Charity Club, and Art Club. Through the wide range of offerings, students are able to explore myriad activities that not only strengthen their minds, but also their physical and emotional well-being.
In addition to the above ASAs, our IB students are also engaged in Creativity-Action-Service (CAS), which allow students to get involved in the local and wider community. Furthermore, middle school and high school students can join competitive sports teams that play matches all over Shanghai and in neighboring cities such as Nanjing.
Students are highly encouraged to create their own ASAs, with the supervision of a faculty adviser. Student-led clubs are a pillar of the FDIS after-school activities program.
